Relaxometers OXFORD INSTRUMENTS MQC 5, 23, F, etc.

MQC NMR relaxometers are designed to measure the mass fractions of substances in liquid and solid samples. The principle of operation of NMR relaxometers is based on the resonant absorption of electromagnetic energy by matter due to the reorientation of the magnetic moments of atomic nuclei. The test sample is placed in a permanent magnetic field and exposed to a sequence of radio frequency pulses of an electromagnetic field, the parameters of which provide measurement of the parameters of the NMR signal at various points in time. For liquid samples, the dependence of the amplitude of the spin echo signal (Khan echo) or the decay of free induction is recorded, for solid samples - the SI signal or the spin echo signal, which appears as a result of exposure to the sample by a pulse sequence containing two 90 degree radio frequency pulses delivered with a delay of several microseconds. The analytical signal for measuring the mass fractions of substances is the average value of the amplitude of the corresponding NMR signal for a certain time interval (the starting point of this interval and its duration are selected depending on the sample). The dependence of the analytical signal value on the mass fraction of substances containing NMR-active nuclei (1H or 19F) is constructed using samples in which the content of these substances is known (external standard method).
